Anyway, hi! I'm Effy, and I used to play Whitlea, Laharl, Mao and Barnaby here. I might play one of them again here someday, but for now, I'm pleased to announce someone who I'm very sure needs no introduction: Sherlock Holmes!



Or, more specifically, Sherlock from the modern-day BBC version (which is awesome, go watch it if you haven't yet, and if you have LET ME LOVE YOU). He's a high-functioning sociopath who keeps severed body parts in the fridge, has a mind palace (yes, really), a very arrogant git, and is the world's only consulting detective. He made the job up.

Now, as I'm sure everyone's aware of by now, Sherlock is very observant, and has the ability to "scan" people. He's able to tell a huge part of their life story at a glance, as well as what they were doing last night and anything even they might not be aware of. I'm aware this is a bit god-modey, so I've put up a permissions post over here! As a note, since we're going to be operating on fuzzy dream logic here, you can find a way to throw him off if you'd like.

And since Sherlock Holmes in all his incarnations is rather well-known, I'd like to ask that people keep from fourth-walling him about the BBC version. However, any of the previous versions are fair play, and in fact, I wholeheartedly encourage it, especially when it comes to ACD canon and how different it is from his experiences.

And since I don't know how to end an intro post, have a few more gifs!





...oh, yeah, almost forgot. Sherlock's canon point, right now, is post-A Scandal in Belgravia, so as to avoid Reichenbach spoilers and feels. Because no one needs to have their heart ripped out and stomped on and thrown in the incinerator right now, but it may happen soon.

Is there anything you want me to avoid mentioning about the ACD canon? Specifically wondering about Reichenbach, since Conan's birthday is coming up this next month and his response tends to be 'Birthday? Whose birthday is that? Isn't May 4 the day Holmes fell over the falls with Moriarty?"

The idea of the two of them in a haunted house is hilarious. I need to get that replied to still.

Hmm...well, I'm planning on taking him through canon, so Reichenbach is still a no-go, but once he gets through The Reichenbach Fall, it's fine. Everything else is fair game.

Oh, god, yes. Those two are the most skeptical detectives out there.

If I remember right, the name of the location was the Hotel Mycroft. It might be worth doing just for that.

...And revealing that Conan can apparently fill out a 200 page quiz on the Holmes canon from memory.

XD, I'm hoping the dream thing here will make the adjustment slightly easier than its been in other games. I had Conan in one game where he was still insisting that there had to be a scientific explanation after more than six months.

Sherlock does not have a favorable opinion of fans in general, sob, poor Conan's not going to have it easy.

Yeah, me too. Granted, the other game Sherlock is in is a memory loss game, but he still does not believe in magic. Even after coming face to face with it.

I just hope it doesn't go as far into the negative CR as the other Sherlock I've played with. In that game Conan decided Sherlock was a poor copy of the REAL Holmes. It went downhill from there. The phrase 'pre-school bullies' comes up a lot to describe their CR these days.

Yeah... sounds about right. I've lost count of how many times Conan has been accused of being closed minded for insisting that everything must have a science-based explanation. I even played him in a Hogwarts game for a few months and he spent a month in a magic school refusing to believe in magic and attempting to apply the scientific method to everything.

They should start a support group. Something like "Skeptics Who Are Stuck In Multifandom Games Where Magic Runs Rampant And Logic Is Thrown Right Out The Bloody Window Support Group" or something.
